Designing a destination playground

Boffa Miskell developed the design for a destination playground in the heart of Matamata. The design focusses on a community and social meeting point surrounded by natural elements, and “maximum play value” amongst the large existing oak trees. The playground caters for a wide range of children and family needs, from very young and inquisitive, to older and more challenge driven.

 

The outcome provides for a landscape design unique to the site and drawn from the stories of Matamata, and its people. The playground is currently in its final funding stage, ready for construction 2025/2026.
